Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis to approve therapy and often dictate the method and process of treatment. To ensure we provide the most client-centered care, we operate as a private pay-only practice, tailoring our services to meet your individual needs. However, we do accept HSA and Flex Pay credit cards, and can provide a super bill for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network benefits.

Do you only work with couples? Can I see you individually?

At Colorado Marriage Counseling, we work with both couples and individuals. While we specialize in couples therapy, we also offer individual therapy sessions to help you address personal concerns, improve your mental health, and work on issues that may impact your relationships. Whether you need support for anxiety, depression, trauma, or other personal challenges, we are here to help you achieve your goals.

What does a typical couples therapy session look like?

A typical couples therapy session at Colorado Marriage Counseling lasts about 60 to 90 minutes. During the session, both partners meet with a licensed therapist who facilitates open and structured communication. The therapist helps the couple identify underlying issues, set goals, and develop strategies for improving their relationship. Sessions often involve discussing recent conflicts, practicing new communication skills, and exploring emotions and patterns of behavior. The focus is on creating a supportive environment where both partners feel heard and understood, fostering mutual growth and connection.

How long does couples therapy take?

The duration of couples therapy varies depending on the specific issues being addressed and the goals of the couple. On average, many couples find that 12 to 20 sessions are effective for resolving moderate issues. However, some may see improvements in fewer sessions, while more complex or deeply rooted problems might require longer-term therapy. At Colorado Marriage Counseling, we tailor the length of therapy to fit your unique needs and progress, ensuring you receive the support necessary to strengthen your relationship.

There was infidelity in my relationship. Can it really be repaired?

Yes, a relationship can be repaired after infidelity with commitment and effort from both partners. Open communication, professional guidance from a therapist, and a willingness to rebuild trust are essential. Addressing underlying issues and developing new, positive patterns in the relationship can lead to healing and even stronger connections. At Colorado Marriage Counseling, we provide the support and tools needed to navigate this challenging process and help couples rebuild their relationships.

Is therapy confidential?

Information shared in therapy sessions remains private and is protected by law, with few exceptions such as imminent risk of harm or legal requirements.
